A humorous, but factual, discussion of all sorts of things that suck includes gravity, leeches, babies, and straws.

Newborn babies suck their thumbs. Kids suck milk through a straw. And who doesn’t like to suck a lollipop? So if you think that “suck” is another bad word, think again! This Books Really Sucks! reaches out to elusive preteen readers to open up a multi-subject investigation of gravity, vacuums, flight, animals, physics, and machines. What would the world be like if things didn’t suck? Just ask a dentist what he’d do without his trusty spit-sucker…or your parents what they’d do without the handy dust-sucker that inhales all the junk you leave lying in your room! And if you think we’re just sucking up to you, don’t be fooled.

This Book Really Sucks! is sure to be sucked up by consumers. With its suction-cupped “bath mat” jacket, it’s a real eye-catcher! This description may be from another edition of this product.

Reviews

  • Fun for Boys Especially!

“This is a great book any young person that loves the word “sucks” or is interesting in science. It is a fun read and lets kids get away with saying “Sucks” over and over. This book remains a favorite with my teenage sons (and me!). It is a gift I give to inquisitive children of friends and colleagues.”

  •  A great book to get boys excited about reading.

“This book has everything that appeals to boys: cool pictures, disgusting and strange trivia, it (really) sucks, and it uses the word suck a whole lot! In reality, it is a great non-fiction book on the science of things that “suck,” like vacuums, suction cups, gravity, and even France’s poop-sucking street cleaners. I brought this book to a teacher in-service I taught on engaging boys in reading; many of them asked where I found it and if they could borrow it for their students and/or sons. Unfortunately, it’s out of print, which is why I am so glad I was able to find it used and at such a great price! I will likely buy more of them to make available to the school libraries in my district.”
